Baltimore, Maryland  — The Canton Group (TCG) announced today that it has been selected by the Maine Department of Education (DOE) to manage and enhance its Maine Online Open-Source Education (MOOSE) Platform. The award covers a multi-year contract beginning July 1, 2025, with options for renewal through June 2030.

TCG’s team began working with the Maine DOE at the end of August 2025, initiating the first phase of platform management and planning.

The MOOSE Platform is a custom-built, Drupal-based digital library that provides free, Maine Learning Results-aligned, pre-K–12, project-based, interdisciplinary modules to students and educators statewide. Created during the pandemic to ensure equitable access to high-quality content, the platform is now a core Maine DOE resource serving teachers, curriculum leaders, museums, libraries, and other educational partners.

Under the new agreement, TCG will:

  • Host and maintain the MOOSE Platform in compliance with State of Maine security and data-center policies, ensuring 99.5% uptime and U.S.-based data storage.
  • Conduct design and technical audits to improve accessibility, performance, branding, and user experience.
  • Provide ongoing corrective, preventive, and performance maintenance, security patching, and monthly reporting of issue resolution and platform metrics.
  • Support platform evolution and feature enhancements through an experienced, on-staff Drupal and project-management team certified under the Project Management Institute (PMI) standards.
  • Deliver formal project management, testing, and deployment certification aligned with the State of Maine’s architecture compliance, business continuity, and disaster-recovery policies.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Maine Department of Education on the MOOSE Platform,” said Ethan Kazi, Chief Executive Officer of The Canton Group. “Our team has decades of experience building and managing education platforms and secure, large-scale public-sector digital initiatives. We’re honored to help the Maine DOE keep MOOSE a dynamic, living resource for educators and students.”
