The Canton Group has signed a new five-year contract with the U.S. Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General (DOT OIG), extending a partnership that goes back to 2009. The contract includes a base year and four optional periods.
Under the new contract, The Canton Group will continue to maintain, secure, and evolve DOT OIG's Drupal website (https://www.oig.dot.gov). The site now runs on Drupal 11, reflecting years of version upgrades and ongoing maintenance.
A Long-Term Partnership
Since 2009, The Canton Group has served as the digital operations partner for DOT OIG, managing the agency's public-facing website through a full lifecycle of redesign, platform modernization, and ongoing operations and maintenance. The Canton Group performed the Drupal 7 to 9 project which identified the need to execute a full architectural rebuild from Drupal 7 to Drupal 9, requiring not only content migration but complete redevelopment of the underlying technical framework, custom modules, content types, and theme layer. This was followed by successful upgrades to Drupal 9, Drupal 10, and Drupal 11. In addition to the Drupal upgrades, The Canton Group provides ongoing security and module updates, vulnerability remediation, and new features and enhancements as the agency's needs have changed.
Some of that work has become a model for others. Our team built the site's Recommendation Dashboard, cited industry-wide as a gold standard among OIG applications; the Oversight.gov export and import feature eliminating manual data entry burden; the Active Audits page supporting Congressional reporting; the X (formerly Twitter) simultaneous publishing integration; the GovDelivery email subscription service reaching over 40,000 active subscribers; and a custom media handling enhancement that empowers OIG content editors to independently customize and manage embedded images modernizing the agency's content publishing experience and elevating the visual presentation of oversight materials.
"Few websites stay current, secure, and genuinely useful for as long as this one has, and that only happens when both sides keep showing up. DOT OIG has always pushed us to look past the task in front of us, which is how tools like the Recommendations Dashboard came to exist. We're grateful for their trust, and we're looking forward to what we build together next."

This renewal adds to The Canton Group's growing track record with federal Inspector General offices, alongside our work with USAID OIG and the Department of Labor OIG.
